Charles Robert Chugg died  January 27th 1924 in the Weyburn Mental Hospital. There was  a TB annex at the hospital and quite possibly Charles died of TB. He had created his will and sold off most of his property at that time. He placed the assets into a trust for son William Edward Chugg and wife Catherine Julia Thomspon Chugg and wife Catherine Julia. He was declared mentally incompetent in November of 1923.  The will and estate was probated by the named executor: Ebenezer Rogers Chugg - Charlie's brother.  William Edward Chugg died of TB 4 years later in an Ottawa sanatorium in 1928 and left his inheritance to his sister Edith.  His head stone is in Beechwood Cemetery in Ottawa. Charles Robert Chugg is buried in the Mortlach cemetery. Thelma Hartman put together this part of the puzzle late  in the evening of Feb 2, 2014.

Note the signatures of both Charles and brother Ebenezer. Will made Oct. 1918.  Charles died in January of 1924.

This inventory valuation does not include the value of land sold, but gives a general indication of the lifestyle of Charles and Julia and their family.

Sale of land to J.D. Gardiner and Clement Tregear. Money put in trusts for Catherine Julia and for Eddie.

Total assets at date of death $8524.46.

Just below the number 10 and listed on the left hand side is the census registration for the family of Charles

Robert Chugg for the region of Moose Jaw Saskatchewan. The family members in descending order are:

I believe this is a census from 1920. It is listed as the Fifth Census of Canada.

Charles Robert Chugg family continued... left hand column.
Death of Catherine and Charles son, Eddie, due to TB as described in paragraph three below.
Paragraph four, right hand column below indicates how Catherine Julia took care of neighbor men during the flu epidemic of 1918. Also Dr. Ellis is also mentioned. Was this the Ellis family that the Chugg family followed to MacLeod, Alberta?

According to the pages above:

Dr. Ellis lived in Parkbeg for awhile. I wonder if this is the Dr. Ellis of Hull, Quebec that is mentioned

in the Chugg Family History Book. Apparently the Chugg brothers followed him out to Alberta.

Catherine Julias parents gravestones back in the Gatineau region of Quebec. Charles came from Hull, Quebec.

Catherine Julia Thompson Chuggs nephew (?) in
MacLeod, ALberta.  Headstones photos are courtesy Mrs. Bailey.

Florence Bailey was Florence Thompson and was a niece to Catherine Julia Thompson Chugg,  and Annie Thompson Chugg.  She was the daughter of Edward Thompson, the Chugg wives brother.

Hi Michael

A very kind lady from Fort Macleod had access to some photos from Union Cemetery and she offered to send the ones that were related to us. She has sent Catherine Julia Chugg, Edward Thompson (son of Edward Thompson, brother of Catherine and Ann Jane Thompson) and Florence Bailey (who was the daughter of Edward Thompson, brother of Catherine and Ann Jane). When she has time she will look for others that she may have.

Sincerely

Thelma Hartman  (She is Thelma Chugg's granddaughter and is the same Chugg generation as the host of this wiki. Thelma is responsible for most of the registry scans in this wiki.) We both descend from Philip Elisha Chugg of MacLeod, Alberta.)
