 Hannah and Bill Chugg

                              William (Bill) Chugg

Bill Chugg atop the grain wagon, helping out with the farming.  His daughter Philles Chugg Proudfoot indicates that this is either a picture of Bill Chugg in Fort MacLeod, ALberta possibly on Chugg land. She also thinks it may be East of Clairmont, ALberta on his brother Philip Edgar's land. Edgar had broken his leg and Bill left his family to spend the late summer in the Grande Prairie Area helping Edgar's boys take off the crop.  If this is the picture of Edgar's land, then this is the team of eight horses that my father always told me about. He lost his front teeth while shoeing on of the horses. He used the team to plow the fields. I never saw a picture of the team, but always played in the smithy on the farm where the horse collars and shoeing equipment were stored. I also played as a child of six in the grain wagon. Later as a young man I plowed teh same land that my grandfather and his sons broke and plowed and seeded. My sister, Leslie, and her husband Bob ranched the land to raise thier kids and then sold it.

Bill is the son of Phillip Elisha Chugg and Annie Jane Thompson Chugg. He is the father of Philles (Timmy) Chugg Proudfoot and is the brother of Edgar Philip Chugg, (Michael Philip Chugg's grandfather.
